Getting Your Website Live

Domains and hosting

You have a brand new website, and now you want to share it with the world. There are two other things you'll need: a domain name and hosting.

A domain name is like a dedicated address where you point people so they can find you. Hosting is renting someone else's computer so you can share your website. When someone tries to visit your address, hosting is what makes your site actually appear.

Getting/Transferring Your domain

We strongly recommend keeping your domain with your own registrar. That said, our contract explicitly states that you own the domain, regardless of who purchased it. If you'd rather we manage it, that's fine — you can transfer it to our registrar (Porkbun), and we'll handle hosting, DNS, nameservers, and SSL certificates for you. If you don't have a domain yet, we can help you choose one and handle the purchase. Your domain should be short, simple, easy to remember, and ideally your business name.

Fast and Reliable

Hosting Your Website

When it comes to hosting, there are two things that matter: speed and availability. If you choose a cheap hosting provider, it’s likely your site will be packed alongside thousands of other websites, causing it to be slow, overloaded, or even worse offline. This means your customers get nothing.

Speed

The hosting provider we use runs on a CDN, which caches your website's files on servers closest to your visitors. That way, returning visitors experience even faster load times.

Availability

This refers to how often your server is up and running. The hosting provider we use guarantees 99.9% uptime, meaning your site is almost never going down.
